We take up to eight weeks to consider the complaints made against us. If for any reason we are unable to resolve the problem within that timeframe, then the complainant may ask the Legal Ombudsman to consider the complaint. Please be aware that complaints to the Legal Ombudsman should normally be made within six months of receiving our final response to your complaint and no more than one year from the date when the problem arose or, if you were not initially aware of the problem, within one year of the date when you should reasonably have known that there was cause for complaint. If you think a solicitor might be dishonest or you have concerns about their ethics or integrity, you also have the right to notify our regulator, the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA). There is no time limit for making a report but there are limits on what the SRA will consider.
